When a transaction occurs, a network of validators must reach a consensus to approve it. Each participant uses cryptographic access keys, which work like a digital signature, to confirm that the operation is legitimate. A new block is added to the chain every ten minutes, making the record progressively more permanent.<\/p>\n

A simple example:<\/strong> when Lu\u00eds transfers R$ 500 to Valter, several participants in the network automatically confirm this operation, without a bank and without an intermediary. The transaction is recorded forever on the chain, with Valter receiving an additional R$ 500 and Lu\u00eds having R$ 500 less. Irreversible and traceable.<\/p>\n

As Marcelo Frontini, from Bradesco’s R&D department, described to Ciab Febraban magazine: it is like a meeting in which all parties speak and the witnesses confirm the deal, without any intermediary.<\/p>\n

Blockchain offers concrete gains for the financial sector. Security is one of the main ones: records are encrypted and chained, making fraud practically impossible. In addition, all transactions are visible to the participants in the network, which ensures transparency without the need to trust a single institution.<\/p>\n

In terms of speed, processes that used to take days, such as financial settlements and international payments, can be completed in minutes. And with fewer intermediaries in the way, the natural result is a reduction in fees and bureaucratic steps.
